As we step into a brand new year, we step into a new Nigeria, one that is poised to regain lost glory and to trudge on to greater heights. God will do what He will do to deliver this nation from the clutches of evil. We shall behold a new Nigeria where all of us and our children and our children's children shall dream great dreams and they shall be brought to fruition.

We shall witness the rebirth of authentic Nigerian creativity on all fronts. We shall use our votes to write a new story of progress, peace, purposeful and responsible government. We shall not hear of it from a distance. We shall witness it and bequeath a vibrant economy to our progeny. Nigeria will rise again. Her glory and her destiny shall no longer be toiled with. He will break the hearts of steel impervious to sound reasoning and he will shatter the prison doors of failure and release this nation to fulfill the very purpose for which He created it. He will clip the wings of evil men who stand against this nation. they shall be taken by surprise. Their propaganda for self-destruction will not fly and they shall be routed on all sides by the Most High. We shall know that He was here!

It is well with us all: Spirit, Soul and Body and from the crowns of our head to the soles of our feet. Stay blessed my friends - Fellow Nigerians! Happy New Year!

How did you fare in this outgoing year? Did you get it right or did you miss it? Did someone tell you you wouldn't make it? Did you think you were a real failure and the scum of the earth? Did you feel like you're filthy and no one cares? Then, this is for you. You shall not die but live to declare God's goodness.

You were created first to worship The Lord and to impact your generation in clearly defined ways. If you have not found the reason for your being, it's time to ask your Father in Heaven who created you and embedded the blueprint for your being in you even before your mother conceived you. Give Him the first day of the year! Worship Him! Adore Him! Thank Him! Praise Him! Then stay focused and steadfast. He will take you on a journey of discovery of who you are! If you have planned to booze 'shekpe' please, abandon that plan and make it a personal date with your mentor and the scriptwriter of the drama of your life. Don't miss this chance tomorrow. It's your chance to write a new song of victory and bountiful outstanding successes you'll achieve throughout the new year! Happy New Year Friends!

Fellow Nigerians, the voters' registration exercise will commence in exactly 16 days from now. Please turn out for the exercise. Register and ensure you collect your printed card instantly. Ensure also as a group that the list of registered persons at the centre is printed out and certified immediately after the day's exercise is concluded and pasted on the wall for verification.

Fellow Nigerians, brothers and sisters. Please beware of tendentious propaganda being spread by some unscrupulous elements to fan the embers of war in the nation. These are clearly trouble makers looking for an opportunity to destroy this nation. Disregard all those false and sham claims as they are clearly lies with a lot of holes in them.

The attempt to give the Jos crises a religious coloration is evil and the intent of the creators of the fake web site and the surreptitious commentaries are meant to cause disaffection between the largely Muslim North and the largely Christian South. Let's watch out for these elements. They are the real enemies of Nigeria working with politicians at the highest levels. Let's not fall for the antiques of these liars and sons of Satan who are out to destroy all that we hold dear: our unity and oneness as a people.

Government should act decisively to nip this rubbish in the bud.

These same set of people will most likely spearhead killings in some parts of the country making it look like it's their targeted opponents that did it. Report their activities immediately to the security agencies. Nigerians be vigilant. Evil men are at work!

I do not only wish you all a Merry Xmas but I also wish you love, joy, peace of God that surpasses all understanding, the power of God beyond what is normal and true freedom from ignorance in all it's ramifications - that was what Christ stood for.

I also wish you all Godly Wisdom to chart winning courses for your lives in the New Year and The Spirit of Excellence to make you and your products stand out distinctively above the others. God bless you all!

Security still on my mind. The aggressiveness displayed so far by some of the candidates evidenced in their belligerent statements seems to suggest there would be hostilities and probably violence during the elections especially given the massive arms build up across the country. How best can the lives of voters who are clearly in the majority be protected from a thieving few who want to have their way by force?

The power of recall is an integral part of democratic governance. This powerful tool that enables the electorate ( the True Sovereign) to discipline erring representatives by removing them from office is, at best dysfunctional in Nigeria at the moment. Fellow Nigerians, let us examine these issues today in line with the provision of the Electoral Act and the constitution as well as the factors militating against it's use. Finally, let's answer the question: when elected representatives fail to deliver on their promises, how do we exercise the power of recall?

After wasting so much of our resources on the process of amending the Electoral Act, the Electoral Act 2010 as gazetted by the NASS in the end is 93 pages of utter rubbish meant to perpetuate evil men in office and to rob the electorate of the power to recall the evil men. Fellow Nigerians, please read the fake document through and through and you'll be sorry you're a Nigerian!

It is a fraud insulating these group of people from the sovereign will of the people. That's why they run government offices without any feeling of compunction. As it were, the only power the electorate seems to have is before and during the elections. This again they are trying to steal from us through the evil concept of 'Automatic Ticket' without recourse to the people. NIGERIANS, please, read the so-called Electoral Act. It's a fraud to perpetuate evil men in office!

It is noteworthy, however, that apart from provisions for Area Councils, the Electoral Act is completely silent on provisions for National offices including the President and his Vice, the NASS, State Governors and their Deputies and State Houses of Assembly. Is this deliberate? Where are the lawyers on this forum? Have you seen the fraudulent 2010 Electoral Act as gazetted? Is this a joke or what?

Please. read it up and tell me I'm dreaming, please, somebody!  It is pure 419 by the NASS against the people!

As it were, the only option we have is to mobilize and stop them from contesting by sending petitions to the INEC we do not want them to represent us even if their parties say so. Once they get there, they become untouchable. We can also vote against them massively during the elections. If we fail, what we'll have after the 2011 elections are gods who would strangulate the economy further and enslave the people under the stranglehold of laws they make to insulate themselves. They have indirectly given themselves (the NASS and State Houses of Assembly) subtle diplomatic immunity. It must not stand!

Now that Jega has told us in clear terms we should expect less than perfect elections in 2011, the onus lies on us to take our destinies in our hands and put in all our might and all our strength to ensure we achieve free and fair elections. The forces and factors that often best our attainment of credible elections are not beyond the capacity of the electorate (who are in the majority) to tackle successfully. We can beat them to their intimidation tactics and every device and tricks they come up with. Their methods are outdated and we can cripple all their arsenal and immobilize their machinery of deception with our concerted efforts.

All the signs are very clear for all to see that Jonathan does not intend to give us free and fair elections. Rather than use the golden opportunity he has had to show us his good works as a basis for securing our votes, he is trying so hard to change the rules right in the middle of the game to confer undue advantage on himself.

Fellow Nigerians, we have heard and seen enough to allow the contraption they call election to go the way of the others. Civil society groups, labour and all well meaning Nigerians must work together to put an end to this disgraceful government.

We must ensure that Jega is taken to task and must show these poor performance in our state houses that we mean business and that we must take back our right to appoint who we want and we shall have nothing to the contrary.

2 feared killed as violence attends anti-Akala rally

Ogbomoso, hometown of Oyo State governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala was in the thundering roar of battle yesterday as opposition forces converged on the town for an anti-Akala rally.
For several hours, armed youths believed to be of the governor’s camp held the town hostage, patrolling its streets and shooting sporadically to abort the rally.

The rally, to campaign against the second term bid of the governor, was staged by Akala’s foes - Senator Rashidi Ladoja, Senator Lekan Balogun, the Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin in collaboration with the Ogbomoso Stakeholders Forum, a coalition of political bigwigs that cuts across party lines. They included the chairman of the forum who doubles as the host, Hon. Ayo Adeseun, Alhaji Fatai Buhari, Chief Ademola Alalade.
The fierce-looking hoodlums wearing charms, amulets and armed with guns, machetes, axes, swords, daggers hit the streets as early as 7am, making bonfire. They drove around town in a convoy of 10 vehicles, among them the Akala/Goodluck Jonathan Campaign buses.

They stationed themselves at strategic locations including Taki, Idi-Abebe, Oja’gbo, Isale-Ora, the premises of Soun’s palace where the visitors largely from Ibadan including the suspended G8 group of anti-Akala’s lawmakers led by the suspended majority leader, Samuel Ademola Adejumobi were billed to pass and pay homage to the monarch.

The development forced many residents indoors while traders and shop owners who had opened for the day hurriedly closed.
The hoodlums held sway till about 12.30pm, when a detachment of anti-riot policemen conveyed in trucks and two Armoured Personnel Carriers dislodged them.
Two of the militia were feared killed at the outskirts of the town where they clashed with an advance team of the party from Ibadan who were also armed.
The Ogbomoso mob had ambushed the Ibadan visitors but fell to the firepower of their opponents.

Unconfirmed reports said two of the assailants were killed in the clash as three others sustained serious gun wounds while their comrades in arms fled into the bush.
The streets that had been partially deserted for hours, however, regained life in the afternoon as Ladoja, Balogun, Folarin arrived to a rousing welcome.
Despite the hiccups, the rally held at the home of Chief Adeseun.

Advance sample of the look and feel of the 2011 Elections. Are we going to fold our arms and watch this happen? Are we still going to have that irresponsible and bullish governor foist himself on the people again and visit them with bloodbath should progressive forces stand in his way?

Fellow Nigerians of OYO extract, this cannot be allowed to happen. You must all rise up to the challenge of that bloated bleaching animal. Stop closing your doors and running away. You must face them lest they should steal what rightfully belong to you through sham and highly barbaric intimidation tactics. If you do not get that animal out of that office in 2011 and have him in chains after the elections then you are bound to remain under his curse and poor and inept government for another 4 years. Can you bear that? Have you not suffered enough?

Must we now begin to nibble at the souls of our innocent children all for filthy lucre? Do these kids deserve to undergo this traumatic experience all because someone out there in government who is in a position to do something about it fails to do so for selfish reasons?

Now that it is obvious that INEC really had no real plan in place, They have been given soft landing by Nigerians who least understood the technicalities involved. Jega has played smart by pushing it back to them and making them champion his cause claiming he had little time to do a good job. He was sure heading for disaster.

However, now that he has ample opportunity to plan and execute, he should also be told clearly that Nigerians will not tolerate any further waste of our scarce resources to finance his incompetent handling of the process. He now has a clear chance to do due diligence and to perfect and streamline the business processes and put in clearly defined controls to ensure the exercise is successful.

Meanwhile, Jega tabulated thus the timetable set by INEC on assumption that the Amended Constitution and the Electoral Act would have been in place by now but which has been affected by two weeks:

Deliverables
Timelines
(i) Identification of equipment suppliers, Early August 2010
(ii) Award of contract, Early August 2010
(iii) Delivery of 15,000 units of equipment for training Early September 2010
(iv) Delivery of balance of equipment for registration exercise, Mid-October 2010
(v) Training Early to Mid September 2010

(vi) Completion of deployment of equipment to polling units, Mid-October 2010
(vii) Registration exercise, Late Oct.– Early Nov. 2010
(viii) Printing of voters’ register for display, Early November 2010
(ix) Display of Voters’ Register,
Mid-November 2010
(x) Verification, correction and certification, Mid Nov. – Early Dec. 2010.

(Culled from Daily Sun, August 19, 2010)

Fellow Nigerians, let me confirm to you from the laid out plans above that INEC has reeled out, the entire exercise is subject to compromise. Jega is doing nothing different from what Iwu or any other person had done. Remember, Jega's integrity alone cannot get us there. What about the good old INEC personnel who are the real masters of results falsification?

Here are the reasons:

1.   INEC clearly does not intend to use the data capturing machines for what it really is, but as a manual system as using pen and      paper to record the proceedings. The aim is just to capture photographs and fingerprints, that are not going to be used anyway, and some data and then print out the voters' card or that would be printed and people would have to go and collect them later. There are no plans to print out immediately the captured list for the day so people and  verify. The data would then be taken to collation centres and INEC would print voters' register for display later, most likely days after the exercise, giving enough time for manipulation. The registered voter's card can be issued immediately after capture. So capture, production of voters' cards and verification takes place instantly. This is the only credible way and it can be done seamlessly.

2.    This is exactly what I've been talking about. The only way we can curb electoral fraud perpetrated through voters' register is to publish the data immediately after each day's exercise at each centre for people who participated to verify - they know themselves and can tell who did not really register. Then also, the data must be uploaded immediately fro each centre to INEC Headquarters' Servers loaded with analytical software to collate these data from different centres and give the needed summaries and actual listings. INEC can hook up the servers to large display screens in a hall at the headquarters and Journalists and party representatives can view these real data as they come in instantly and record them. Even the lists for each centre can also be printed out immediately and obtained by the interested stakeholders. That way also, NGO's and other interested parties can independently verify at the community-level the data so displayed and summaries published in the press. Then also, during litigations, the local copies at the communities, one of which must be pasted immediately after the day's proceedings and a copy given to the community leaders duly signed by the data handling personnel of INEC can be presented by disputing parties as hard evidence during litigations bordering on actual elections and would also make for speedy dispensation of justice.

3.   Anything short of this would guaranty us massive failure at 50!

Fellow Nigerians, this is INEC's shoddy plan to expend your =N=87.7bn on just one of the items detailed above (Voters' Registration Exercise). Jega has really not come to terms with the potentials of his personnel for fraud and how dexterous and desperate politicians are to compromise the system.

@mabotech: u're right! but then again, you and I and every other Nigerian has critical roles to play. If we leave the entire process to them, we'll be sorry for it. We must begin to own the processes by which we select our leaders.

The first step is for Nigerians to demand for INEC's roll out plan. Does any such plan exist. If not, on what basis was the budget presented? If there is such plan, then we need to see it in the public domain so we are better informed. Nigerians must scrutinize the plans, and if INEC is serious at all, the views of well meaning Nigerians should and MUST be taken into consideration. We SHALL no longer tolerate, as Nigerians, a situation in which our money (yes, that money belongs to Nigerians) would be doled out to people who would do as they like with it without accounting to the people. INEC tell us, what are are your plans to ensure a successful exercise? That should be the cry of every well meaning Nigerian at this moment. INEC cannot be more intelligent than 150mn Nigerians!

Post Merge: August 17, 2010, 08:34:36 PM
We need to know those plans now. Then INEC needs to do a pilot test of those plans before the actual exercise commences.

Nigerians should by now be concerned with INEC's plan to ensure a successful conduct of the voters' registration exercise. By now, such plan should have been in the public domain. That is the first step. Nigerians need to know and MUST demand for the plan. If there's no such plan yet, we need to know. This is what should be on the minds of every Nigerian at the moment. What is the plan, INEC please tell us! If you do not have a plan now, on what basis did you prepare a swollen budget? If there sure is one, we demand to know. That is the very first step!

INEC has made it's first move, part of the plan, to recruit students in Nigerian universities and Youth Corpers. I suggest this is a good move! However, Nigerian youths should be prepared to resist every attempt at getting them to compromise their consciences. Many Nigerian students have gone through hell to get tertiary education. For many, the future seems so uncertain. They wonder how they'll get jobs and a secure future. Let me remind you all, dearest Nigerian youths, that the very persons who have deliberately connived and contrived this uncertain future for us are the present crops of politicians, some of whom had been there even before independence. In their own time, they had the best of environments to study. The had quality lecturers. But when they left, they presided over the destruction of the system they benefited so much from along with some bunch of school drop-outs, area boys and social misnomers we call Nigerian Armed Forces. Thank God today for the new crop of soldiers we have who are well educated. We can't say that, however, for the Nigerian Police - easily the most disgraceful and embarrassing arm of the armed forces.  Whether you're a youth in school or in the armed forces or you're a top-flight industry professional, you must rise up and let's move this country forward. Do not betray yourselves and your future any longer. Come out enmasse and register and vote for credible candidates irrespective of party affliliation or tribe or sex or zonal trash. It's time to free ourselves from the shackles of these enemies of progress called elders (?). GOD has given us the ability and wisdom to save our dear country! Arise all Nigerians. It is now or never!

@Emmy: I really do belive the first step is to ascertain what plans the INEC has drawn up for the exercise. We also need to look our for these wonder machines (their models and manufacturers) as well as the quantities deployed to each registration centre. We also need to know how many personnel are deployed to each centre and whether or not a secure network infrastructure is deployed and also whether or not the data collection and processing is handled in real time or through a batch process. These are critical yardsticks for measurement of success or failure, or whether the system is open to fraudulent manipulation or not. Trying to see what the plans are first. But while we await that, the public needs to know what to look out for. These guys must account for the use to which they put our money.

@Davincii, Very correct, to my own opinion, i think an international auditing firm like Kpmg should be recruit to audit the account of INEC after the election to account for all the money spent, it's the right of Nigerians to know how far the money goes remember billions not millions and of course every Nigerian money.
