Hi Forumites,

This is really not too bad a time to buy your tickets either to Europe or to US.

The fares are really High now, Kudos to all those early planners who issued their summer tickets between March and may be mid-July is even getting late.

Now the Christmas is around the corner. Be in the look out for any promo.

Fares are within the ranges shown per Ariline, If you are Traveling to London on Virgin Atlantic Airways From N146k if departing before 10 DEC,after this date is N225k

/BA From N146k if departing before 10 DEC, after this date from N227k

/Lufthansa/AirFrance/Iberia/Qatar/Turkish Airline/Emirates may give you a good deal by luck? or availability.

I should be able to give you a fare update on other Airlines if you make enquiry on this Forum.

Thant is my gesture to this forum

And the US and Far east is not really good as fares are really high now. But if you are flying before the 10dec better, but after is really high.

What you can now do except you are on an emergency trip are to:

Be prepared for your trip and get your agent to monitor the seats/flights for you if you have a dedicated one.(Mind you its the travel agents that can best do this for you) I bet you should know that.

Allow flexibility with dates so they can check a day before or after, that way you are likely to get better fares.

Please give your full names as it appears on your passport during your booking,or better still provide a photocopy or scan copy of your international passport.

There may be mistakes even while dictating your details over the phone. You could also send an email with the details, so your agent would have to just copy and paste.

MOST AIRLINES CANNOT ACCEPT ANY TICKET THAT DOES NOT BEAR THE PASSENGERS NAMES CORRECTLY STATED. THIS MIGHT SOMETIME CAUSE UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCES.

SOME MAY INSIST YOU BUY ANOTHER TICKET. WHILE SOME MAY CHARGE YOU
FOR ANY ADJUSTMENTS ON YOUR NAMES, REALLY DOES NOT MATTER HOW
MANY CHARACTERS ARE INVOLVED.

REMEMBER THAT THEY WILL NOT TRANSFER THE TICKET FROM ONE NAME TO THE OTHER, IT IS ONLY FOR CORRECTING A WRONGLY SPELLED NAMES

WARNING! WARNING!! WARNING!!!

DO NOT ISSUE YOUR TICKETS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR VISA ISSUED YET, AND IF YOU HAVE TO ISSUE YOUR TICKET FOR YOUR VISA PROCESSING THEN BUY THE CHEAPEST FLEXIBLE TICKET ONLY. THIS YOU MAY EITHER USE OR REROUTE TO SUITE YOUR PLANNED TRIP.

STAY AWAY FROM NOT CHANGEABLE AND NON-REFUNDABLE TICKETS. YOU LOOSE MONEY THIS WAY.

It is always advisable to provide a photocopy of your International passport to your agent while booking your ticket or while booking your ticket personally.

Give your word to the agent to issue as soon as you get a good deal, of course you know this is after you must have made a payment earlier. Delayed payment most likely makes you loose some cheap seats.

Always remember that the cheaper the ticket the more restrictive it could be, if you are not sure of your departure and return dates then do not issue a very cheap ticket that will say DATE CHANGE NOT ALLOWED & NON-REFUNDABLE if you miss your flight.

Always ask for the CONDITION of your tickets. Though passengers do not observe it is written on all issued tickets. There are Terms and Conditions guiding every ticket.

We are approaching the High season and fares are getting high, so the cheaper seats are booked mostly by luck and whoever issues earlier gets the deal.

My express advise for my fellow traveler should start shopping for Xmas tickets
and make sure you have it probably by Mid-September,this far past now watch out for the promos and buy your tickets online and with fast internet connectivity.

Check out the Xmas deals on the local tickets also.

More details coming shortly.....

Meanwhile you have further enquiry please reply this post or post a question on
my blog http://travelinfodiary.blogspot.com

Dear Forumites,

On this segment I would like to update you on tickets, what you must know about tickets, though the list is endless I would pick them as they come.

-Very cheap tickets often come with very strict terms and conditions
so note that if you are told that LOS-Abuja ticket is N4,000, then you must look at the the conditions of the tickets. Date change may not be allowed, also Non refundable once issued or when passenger No shows.

I will give you hints on some certain terms used as we go along.

-Recently we noticed that ATMs Verve/Interswith, Etranzact transaction attracts some charges when you are about making online payment. Example if you are about paying for an N8,000 an additional charge of about N750 may be included, meanwhile if you get to print out your ticket you will have only N8000 appearing on it.

-Please buy a flexible ticket if you are not sure of your date of travel, but then I must emphasise here that those who plan ahead and program their trips save a lot of money. Imagine someone who booked early enough and paid N3000 only while a fellow who pays for a ticket a day before the trip or same day could pay over N20,000 for the same seat on the same Airline. Lets learn to program and plan ahead of time.

- Most advertised fare on Radio or TV are less $399 to London, always have it in mind that this is exclusive of Taxes. so if you add the taxes this same fare could be about $520.

-An E-tickets has a lot of advantages, the ticket is in the system, if you get to the airport without your print, you should have your six digits booking reference, with your international passport and valid visa, you will be able to board your flight.

-Ensure that your names are correctly written on your ticket, I would advise that when giving or sending a booking request to your agent/airline,please ensure you either scan and send a copy of the biodata (where you have you photo and other details) page of your passport or you take a photocopy of your passport along.

-Do not issue your ticket if your visa is not out yet, people loose money through this means, except for a few Embassies who insist confirmed ticket as a part of the application. I am very sure of US and UK Embassy, they will not ask for ticket as a part of application requirement, so issue it, then its at your own risk.

Meanwhile, I strongly recommend that you do not waste your money. Get your visa then shop for ticket, or just make a booking in preparation of the outcome of your visa application.

More updates on ticket would come later.

Any questions?please do not hesitate.

Cheers!
